Truly, this was a day to savour for Sydney FC. The Sydney Football Stadium pulsated with passion, colour and tension, and while it wasn't a final, it certainly felt like it. Karol Kisel got Sydney going with an ambitious lob midway through the first half, and while Melbourne only needed a draw to retain top spot, John Aloisi sealed all three points with a breathtaking strike just after half-time.
